Azalee was born around 1890 In Tennessee. Her mother's name is Louise Yarbro. It is said that the slave owner fathered Azalee and two other siblings. Azalee's mother later married (The name stated on Azalee's death certificate.) Rose McCathorn and had three more children. Rose served in the Civil War and after the war was over he was freed from slavery, received $25 and an acre of land in Tennessee called the "McCathorn Landing". After Azalee divorced Ecter she remarried. Her married name was Gelham. Azalee died in Kentucky, McCracken County in 1925. One of her siblings name is Sue.
